Interval Timer ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and retain information when you use our mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information Stored on Your Device
The app stores workout-related data locally on your device so the timer works properly. This may include:
- Custom workouts, including workout names, intervals, colors, sounds, and timer settings.
- Workout history, including completed sessions, duration, and streak-related history.
- App preferences, including favorites, sound settings, countdown preferences, and theme preferences.
1.2 Account and Sync Information
If you choose to sign in, we use Firebase Authentication to manage your account. Sign-in options may include Google, Apple, or email and password.
If you are signed in, your custom workouts may be synced to your account using Firebase Firestore so they can be restored across devices.
1.3 Information Collected Automatically by Third Parties
We use third-party services that may collect certain information automatically, such as device and app usage data. These services may include:
- Google Play Services, used for core platform functionality.
- Firebase Authentication, used for account sign-in and account management.
- Firebase Firestore, used to sync workout data when you choose to sign in.
- Firebase Analytics, which may be used to understand app usage and improve the app.
- Google AdMob, used to display ads. AdMob may collect information such as advertising identifiers and device data to show personalized or non-personalized ads.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the timer, workout builder, and workout history features.
- Save your settings and preferences.
- Sync your custom workouts across devices when you sign in.
- Improve app performance and reliability.
- Display ads and measure app usage.
- Respond to support requests and feedback.
3. Notifications and Background Timer
On Android, the app may request notification permission so an active workout can continue while the app is in the background. This notification can show timer controls such as pause, resume, or skip. These are local app notifications used for timer functionality.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers only to the extent needed to operate the app, including Google and Firebase services used for authentication, syncing, analytics, and advertising.
5. Data Retention
We retain data for different periods depending on the type of data and how you use the app:
- Local workout data, workout history, and app preferences are stored on your device until you delete them, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app.
- If you sign in, account information managed through Firebase Authentication is retained until you delete your account, subject to any limited retention required by Google or applicable law.
- If you sign in and use sync, workouts stored in Firebase Firestore are retained until you delete those workouts or delete your account.
- Analytics and advertising data collected by Google services such as Firebase Analytics or AdMob are retained according to Google's own retention policies. We do not maintain a separate copy of that data outside those services.
- If you contact us for support, we may retain your email and related correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to you and keep support records.
6. Your Choices
- Use without an account: you can use the app in a local or guest-style mode without signing in.
- Manage synced data: if you sign in, custom workouts may be synced to the cloud. Deleting workouts while signed in may also remove them from your synced account data.
- Delete your account: if the app provides an account deletion option and you use it, we will delete your synced workout data associated with that account and request deletion of the authenticated account.
- Manage ads: you can manage ad preferences through your device settings, such as Android advertising settings or iOS tracking/privacy settings.
- Clear local data: you can remove locally stored data by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app.
7. Data We Do Not Intentionally Request
Interval Timer does not require access to your contacts, photos, camera, or microphone for its core functionality.
8. Children's Privacy
Our app is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information directly from children under 13.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post any updated version on this page, and the new policy will become effective when posted.
